10th September - Get Dirty: Beginner MTB Skills

Start Time: 09:00
Never set wheel to dirt before? Or you have and it didn't end well? Our introductory course will make you feel at home and build your confidence on the trails. Combines some focussed instruction on basic riding skills with 'natural' off-road and man-made trail riding so you're all set to go exploring the Bridleways or Trail Centre Blue routes whilst keeping everything sunny side up. We look at bike setup, riding position, braking, use of gears, cornering, line choice and dealing with bumps. Suitable for anyone who can ride a bike and wants to take it off road! There's some overlap with 'Get Control' so get in touch if you're not sure which is best for you... https://www.facebook.com/events/1663929380598005

10th September - Above Mytholmroyd: Led Beginner MTB Ride

Start Time: 14:00
Possibly the flattest proper MTB ride in the Upper Valley, but that's not to say it isn't fun! Starting from fantastic local bike shop Blazing Saddles near the top of Cragg Vale means we avoid the customary protracted climbing to begin the ride and we maintain our height throughout making for a relatively flat route - ideal for anyone who is new to mountain biking or who finds the climbs from the valley bottom off-putting. Around 7 miles of quiet lanes and bridleways offer some lovely views, a hint of remoteness and a couple of entertaining yet very manageable downhill sections. The ride is led by our Qualified, Insured and First Aid trained MTB leader and the route has been pre-ridden to ensure quality and safety. Spaces are limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment! Get in touch to book your place or for any further information today! www.facebook.com/events/146934272381094/

17th September - Get Control: Core MTB Skills Course

Start Time: 10:00
A full day skills course looking at the core skills that everybody on the trail needs – Often the missing link that leads to a plateau in technical riding development, getting this dialled is the foundation for great riding technique. Developing better bike control will make you smoother, faster and safer whether you're fairly new to Mountain biking or an old hand looking to learn some new tricks. We slow things down to look at bike setup, positioning on the bike, balance, good braking technique, cornering and weighting/unweighting the bike. Then we put it all into practice and feel the flow! Rip harder on Blue Routes, enjoy the Reds rather than just surviving them and take on more of what nature throws at you on the Bridleway network. Riders should as a minimum be confident riding in non-technical terrain and able to ride 10 miles (we won't be going that far but it might feel like it!) We'll stop off for some lunch so no need to pack sarnies! Booking essential - Cost is £60 per person with a maximum of 4 participants so you get plenty of input. www.facebook.com/events/1755777261367496/

Some of the trails are quite technical and require good bike handling skills so you should be comfortable on trail centre Red graded terrain, although there's nothing that can't be bypassed on foot if necessary. We'll return to Hebden Bridge in time for lunch in one of the pubs or cafes, then there's the option of joining part 2 to make for a full day out! Enjoy a ride out in the hills with our experienced and friendly Ride Leader to guide and support you so you can leave the map at home and just focus on having a great ride.
